You finally got your great-grandparents' koseki (family register) from Japan. Then you opened it: old handwriting, old kanji, dates like "Meiji 34". We transcribe every line, translate it into clear English with Western dates, and draw the family tree for you.

Older koseki often run 3 to 10 pages.

Payment by PayPal. Free look before you pay: send a photo and we tell you the page count and price.
We do not request koseki from Japanese city offices for you. In Japan, doing that for a fee is limited to licensed professionals. You can request it yourself by mail (see our free step-by-step guide), or we can introduce you to a licensed administrative scrivener (gyoseishoshi). We take no referral fee.
This is not a certified translation. It is for family history. If you need a translation for a visa, citizenship, or court, please use a certified translator.
Yes. Read our free guide on how to request it from Japan by mail, in English. If you prefer a professional to request it, we introduce a licensed gyoseishoshi.
Two different AI reading tools each read your koseki, and we compare them line by line. We also check that every date and official title fits the period. Wherever the readings disagree, a native Japanese speaker in Japan checks the character against your image. Anything still unclear is listed in your report as "unclear", never guessed.
We use your files only for your order, never post them, and delete them 30 days after delivery unless you ask us to keep them.
Not at this time. We focus on reading what is written in your documents.
Send a photo or scan of your koseki (any quality is fine for a quote). We reply within 2 business days.
